The Terre Haute Deanery is made up of ten Catholic parishes in Clay, Parke, Putnam, Vermillion and Vigo Counties who collectively serve over 3,000 families. The Deanery is one of 11 deaneries (geographic subdivisions) in the Archdiocese of Indianapolis.

Feed the Hungry

Terre Haute Catholic Charities, the Salvation Army and many churches and organizations operate food pantries and/or soup kitchens to help end hunger in the Wabash Valley. Visit the Catholic Charities Foodbank Webpage to find a pantry near you or to learn more about the mobile pantry. You can also call Lifeline by dialing 2-1-1 for information and assistance.

Samaritan Utility Assistance

The St. Joseph University Parish Samaritan Ministries Utility Assistance Program provides financial assistance to the working poor of Vigo County. Financial Assistance takes the form of payment of the past due balance and/or the reconnect fee (up to a maximum of $500) for a utility (electric, water/sewage, gas, propane and oil) service that has been recently disconnected for lack of payment. Contact the Salvation Army at 812-232-4081 for more information.

Rite of Christian Initiation for Adults

Catholic Churches in the Terre Haute Deanery welcome you to register for the RCIA Program:

  • Do you want to join the Catholic Church?
  • Are you married to a Catholic and want to know more about your spouse’s faith?
  • Are you a long time Catholic who has been away for a while?
  • Are you an adult who has never been confirmed?

The RCIA Program can answer these questions and many more about our Catholic faith. To learn more about this program, or to register, contact one of the parish program coordinators on this list.
